Today is the first day of really getting into a habit that will develop into a routine for me to follow. I’ve never done well being home with nothing to do, so I’ve had to come up with all sorts of things to do to keep me busy. Thankfully I craft a lot and I can start making things to sell, as well as things to use around the house.
My plans are to
- learn recycling so that I throw away less,
- keep up with the laundry so that we don’t have any laying on the floor in the bedroom (one of my rules is to keep it cleared),
- do more cooking from scratch to save us money in the food budget
- work on BDSM crafts so that I can sell them to all you lovely people
- develop Submissive Guide into a viable consulting/mentoring business
- learn to care for myself better so that I am always appealing (including my diet and exercise plan)
- keep Master happy and enjoying the fact that I’m home with him to care for him.
I can’t say how long it will take me to get into a groove and be completely happy with my decision to try the ideal relationship. I don’t know how long the test will last if I fail before Master says to go get a job. I need to make sure we both don’t get cabin fever. I know that we can be more playful and sexual now that I’m home.
Once Master has noticed that I’m settled in my new routine he said we will be working on a more formal protocol at home and my rules will increase. It’s exciting and scary. I’m reaching one of my dreams staying at home. It’s almost surreal that we can actually afford for me to do this. I thought we’d have to be rich first, ya know. It’s always been prefaced before with, ‘When we are rich, I can stay at home and work…’ Master is sure we can do it with his current income and I’m willing to try, for sure.
It’s scary but so very sought after in this lifestyle. I hope that I can make it work for us.

Luna –
I get the impression from reading your blogs that – like me – you’re a procrastination queen! (apologies if this is not the case, no offence is intended). If it is the case, then a couple suggestions:
1) write down a list of everything you have to do that day, no matter how big or small. I have a large notebook – everything to do with day to day management goes in there, in pencil. One page is one week (its a LARGE note book lol). As i do the things, i cross them off. So mine might be.. (for example, today) -
a) walk jess, b) breakfast, c) do gas and electricity readings and calculations, d) garden photos, e) Photo-a-day for blog f) work on tidying up the garden, g) dinner, h) 1 hour ironing, i) blog – update with garden photos and some link updating. Each a, b, or whatever is ringed with a small circle. when the item is done, i fill it in. but then, i’m OCD enough to get a real kick out of a line of circles, all filled in. LOL. So find what works for you. The idea, not only does it keep you on track in terms of what else you have to do, but gives you encouragement cos you can see how well you’ve been doing.
One warning though, if, like me, you love lists and making them (and not doing them!) try to restrict yourself to ten items or less. any more and you run the real risk of simply not having enough hours in the day to get them all done (and then the whole thing is counter productive). Try also to make your items specific. e.g. 1 hour of ironing, rather than ironing, or, dig over X corner of garden, rather than just “garden”.
2) second suggestion: if you are the procrastination queen: do the stuff you don’t like doing in the morning. e.g. for me, its walking the dog. but i know if i get it done and out of the way a) she’s not under my feet whimpering, b) it clears my head and sets me up for the day and c) i sleep better that night for having had the fresh air. I save blogging and computer stuff for the end of the day cos that’s stuff i enjoy, my reward, if you like, for having done the stuff i don’t want to do (and today, that’s tidying up the garden!).
I have a lot of links to sustainability, recycling, healthy and frugal eating and cooking websites and blogs, if you want, as well as my own blog (which is vanilla, which is why i’m not putting it on here – my mom reads my blog!). If you want either them or my blog URL, email me and i’ll email it back to you, but i will ask you that you don’t put a link to it on here
Thanks – and good luck, as you’ve noted, its not an easy thing to do, especially when you’re living ontop of each other (Master is unemployed so is home all day too) but with care and focus on not just what you do but your relationship too, it can work..

Thanks keth, I totally am a procrastination queen. I love to do lists, but rarely get to cross everything off. I have one for work and one for home stuff at the moment. I’m pretty specific about the to do things, but only because that way I remember where my train of thought was when I wrote it down. I actually like to write a great big done over the line when I’ve completed it, akin to your filled in circles.
I’d love your blog link, you can email it to me via the contact page. I won’t link it, I promise, but I will put it in my reader!
Thank yo so much for the suggestions, they will come in handy I’m sure.
Congrats on staying at home……that is quite the feat in these economic times……..It’s a dream of mine to be a stya at home slave someday as well.
I know from readying your blog that you will be doing things that you love as well as serving, knowing when to do your thing and serve might b a problem, but thats when we stop using the word “if” if I do this, if I do that, then……anyway Good Luck, you won’t need it, but its best to say it…..You go Girl, I am proud of you………..smiles, Tom cunt, diana
Thank you thank you. Economics aren’t impacting us just yet, but I do intend to try to make money from home with my 2 online ventures. They won’t be in the black immediately but if I can work them harder than I have, they will someday.
Congrats on staying at home.
I have been a stay-at-home mother for the last 10 yrs and I totally love it.
OK so you don’t have children, but it is still being at home iyswim.
for us, it actually made the most sense for me to be at home – cost of childcare can be prohibitive, and as I have 4 of the little blighters (ummm I mean darlings really lol) There is simply no way we could afford for me to work outside the home.
As far as housework goes, I found a daily schedule/routine that I use (not Flylady – her and I do NOT get on!). The one I use comes from Motivated Moms (http://www.motivatedmoms.com/) OK so you have to pay for it, but it isn’t “that” expensive – less than $10 and it has been worth it’s weight in gold for keeping me organized as I used to be one of the least domesticated people I know!.
And for cooking from scratch – well there are a wealth of websites/blogs out there that have budget friendly recipes. I subscribe to several of them just to get extra inspiration for our meals. Don’t forget to do menu planning so that you can shop wisely if you are wanting to reduce your food budget.
And as far as excercise goes (I don’t really need to diet, but I do need to tone up, especially my abdominal muscles!) I use the Wii Fit daily – we can’t justify gym membership at the moment so this is a good compromise.
For me, my biggest challenge is the presence of the computer – the compulsion to check my emails “just one more time” or to log on to various websites to see if friends have posted anything…

i am wishing you all the very best with this latest path… run with that fear and enjoy!
