I was going to try a weight watchers meeting, but they scare me - all the emotional stuff about why you want to lose, etc. I can't see the response "Because Master said I have to" as being received very well :)
Think I'm going to go back and read the rest of your "Skinny Thoughts", luna.

**hugs**

I was so frustrated when I found out I wasn't eating enough. So many people I see dieting are eating like birds and I'm piling on the food to make it to 2600 calories in a day.

I haven't gained any more weight than the 5 lbs at the start of the food change, and the exercise is going well so I think I can start losing by the end of the year. *cross fingers*

I can attest to the truth of what you write! In my teens, I was, at times, anorexic or bulimic. Your body does go into starvation mode, which can be so frustrating because even if it enables you to get to your target weight, you then instantly put on pounds as soon as you eat a little more. But if there's one thing I know, it's that your body eventually resets its metabolic rate...you can eventually eat a normal amount of calories without gaining weight.

I've needed to lose some weight for the past year or so, and after unsuccessfully dieting, I finally realized that I just need to suck it up and exercise more. For years I was able to control my weight in a healthy manner by jogging 3 miles a day. Then I stopped jogging because of an injury and started to gain weight--but I denied to myself that my lack of exercise had anything to do with it! It must be my screwy metabolism, I told myself. My doctor was even convinced! Recently I started exercising--5 days a week, without fail, including 3 days jogging and 2 days lifting weights--and I have to admit that it works. (And the bonus is, it boosts my metabolism!) I'm also paying attention to my calories, even if some days it means that I have to tell myself, "You haven't eaten enough calories today. Sit down right now and have a bowl of cereal." But the proof is in the pudding (oh, bad diet pun!) and I'm gradually losing weight in a healthy way without starving myself.

Good luck with eating more calories. You just have to get past the temporary frustration that comes with it, and keep reminding yourself that it's a necessary step in the journey toward losing weight and keeping it off.

Having a metabolism screwed up by long term starvation mode SUCKS. I eat like an anorexic, but don't look anything like one... I'm one of those "unclassified" eating disorder types. I'll eat dinner on Tuesday, then not think of food again until Friday. Yes, you read that right. So my body is in constant starvation mode, never knowing when it's going to get fed again. Master wants me to start eating better, so I've been reminding myself to eat at least 1-2 times per day, even if it's only a granola bar or soup. Just something in my stomach. I did manage to lose about 15 lbs last time just by sticking to a basic weight watchers plan and walking 9 miles a week, but drifted away from it just like I always do. Master's going to be getting me a treadmill soon, and I'm getting better with the eating, so things are looking up. I have about 20-30 lbs to lose, and am determined to do it. This time, it's not about doing it for me - that's never been enough motivation. I'm doing it because it's what Master wants... that should be enough to keep me going :)
wishing you luck...
