Alright folks, the time is now to think about sponsoring this blog in an effort to raise awareness and fight Domestic Violence in BDSM relationships. This year I am blogging in the Blogathon for the National Leather Association-International Domestic Violence Project. The Blogathon is July 28th from 8am CST to July 29th 8am CST. I will be blogging every 30 mins for 24 hours. This will be my third year for the Blogathon and my first year raising money for NLA-I DVP. Last year I raised nearly $500 for the Institute for 21st Century Relationships. My inaugural year I raised $75 for the National Coalition for Sexual Freedom. I know that I can break last year’s record with your help. Even if it’s just $1, it will make a difference.
What is the NLA-I DVP?
The NLA-I DVP, as it is abbreviated, has a vision to bring about awareness, provide support and safety to the victims in violent and abusive BDSM relationships. Victims in these relationships need a more extensive support system than what is currently available to them. The project also holds workshops where communities can learn the difference between abuse and consensual BDSM practices and how to recognize abuse when SM is prevalent. This has been the project’s primary mission since 1998.
Where does the money go?
Money donated to NLA-I DVP helps the project continue its efforts to educate the BDSM/Kink/Leather communities, money helps the project print and distribute promotional and informational materials, and helps Regional Coordinators provide in-house training for mainstream domestic violence agencies and services at the state, national, and international levels.
How does the Blogathon Sponsorship Work?
When you go to the Blogathon website and sponsor a blog you are doing so in good faith. You will not need to fulfill your pledge if the blogger does not finish the 24 hour period. When the Blogathon is complete you will be emailed with information about how to donate to the charity; Blogathon nor the blogger handle the money. Your donation goes straight to the charity.
Other Sponsorship Features:
- You can elect to remain anonymous
- You can pledge in lump sums or in hourly pledges
- You get to feel good about doing something right
- You get to make a statement for what you believe in
“I want to do more than donate to your cause, what can I do?”
If you feel that sponsoring my blog is not enough, or you don’t have $1 to pledge; all I ask is that you spread the word of what I am doing for the BDSM community. Post about it on your blog, send it to online groups and munch lists, tell all your friends. If you tell 5 people and they tell 5 people, then I could make my goal. It would also bring awareness about the real fact that Domestic Violence affects all groups and without education we do nothing to stem the flow of victims.
Help me help others in BDSM relationships that can’t find a way out, help me help those that don’t know they are being abused and help me help the project teach the community so that we can stop the violence.
Thank you.
